Full time including Saturdays. Responsible to the General Manager and MD for managing a team with responsibility for customer service, buying, merchandising and stock control. In depth experience of leading teams in a retail environment essential with ability to organise and inspire a diverse range of people. Must be hard working, trustworthy, committed, flexible, motivated, practical and willing to get hands dirty. Garden centre experience, strong merchandising skills and knowledge of plants and EPOS an advantage.
Retail Sales Assistants
Part time or full time but including a Saturday or Sunday and working between 5 and 9 hours a day according to preference and business needs. Responsible for serving and assisting customers, ordering, receiving and checking, pricing and displaying a wide range of stock including plant care products, tools, seeds, bulbs, garden sundries, wildlife products, giftware, greetings cards, Christmas decorations, living room accessories, furniture, barbeques and country clothing. Keen interest in gardening or lifestyle products and experience in a garden centre or other retail environment desirable. Preference will be given to candidates with good plant knowledge, garden centre experience or visual merchandising skills.
Interviews for applicants for the above positions will commence in late June or early July and successful applicants would be expected to start as soon as is convenient and no later than September 2008. Applications will be considered until a shortlist of candidates for all the above positions has been drawn up or 14 August 2008, whichever is the earlier.

Apprenticeships for Plant Sales Assistants
This Summer we are offering up to 2 full time apprenticeships for candidates aged between 16 and 24 and with an interest in developing a career in horticulture. Fully paid training will be offered on site and at Myerscough College leading to the award of the NVQ 2 in Amenity Horticulture and further qualifications thereafter. Candidates must be physically fit, have an interest in working outdoors with plants and have a friendly disposition.
