We are now well underway with our ambitious plans to expand the business. The first phase of works should be complete for the Spring and will comprise an extension to the side of the main garden centre shop, providing another 230 square metres of covered retail space, and leading into a covered plant area of 590 square metres. The covered plant area will not only afford shelter to our customers in inclement weather, but also the more tender plants. Together both structures will enable us to extend our range of products and services.
In the Autumn we also hope to build an extension to the Garden Café with a covered walkway linking it with the new shop extension This new building work will not only allow us to combine our two current catering facilities under one roof, but also enable us to expand considerably our catering services. We are also considering the provision of a food hall dedicated to the best of British foods and new toilets, including better facilities for young children and the disabled.
These developments are part of a strategy to reinvest our profits in new facilities and services over the next three to four years in pursuit of our aim to be the premier plant centre in the North West. We are proud that as a third generation family business we are continuing to expand the business and creating wealth for the local economy. All our 42 staff live within 10 miles of the site and we plan to create 10 new jobs over the next 2 years, please see our vacancies page for more details. We were thus very pleased that so many local residents wrote to the council in support of our application.
