Helping the Community

"As a significant employer in the locality we wish our staff to be proud to
represent us in the community. Accordingly, we will at all times operate in an
ethical and honest manner and encourage our staff to play an active and
visible part in the local community. "

RNLISupporting the RNLI

The Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) has been saving lives along the coast and waterways of Britain for over 180 years. Its history is full of stories of bravery, and even sacrifice, by the committed individuals that man the lifeboats and make the waters surrounding Britain safer.

Being situated just a few miles from the sea, Dunscar and our customers are well aware of the
enjoyment to be had from maritime hobbies, water sports or even a leisurely walk on the beach. However, the sea can be unpredictable and the invaluable role of the RNLI is to ensure our safety in the face of the sea’s changeable nature. With local RNLI stations at Morecambe, Fleetwood, Blackpool and Lytham St. Annes, the charity has a strong presence in our area and we are grateful for their dedication. Since its inception in 1824, the RNLI has operated as a charity that relies on donations from businesses and the public. Shaun Lewis, Dunscar’s General Manager, has served in the Navy and still enjoys sailing, so he is keen for the business to support the vital work of the charity.

To this end, the tips from the Garden Café are donated to the RNLI in appreciation of their important service and raising hundreds of pounds a year to support them.

Saving Lives Matters

For several years Shaun has been a volunteer Community First Responder for the North West Ambulance Service. Two years ago he also became a trustee of the Douglas Cardiac Trust. The Trust exists to serve the medical needs of the local villages and for many years has provided funding for the local first responder group. In order to improve the chances of surviving a heart attack yet further amongst their workforces, the Trust recently loaned two defibrillators to the two largest employers in the Tarleton area, Huntapac and Golden Acres. If you would be willing to be a volunteer first responder in your own community then visit www.nwas-responders.info or ring the ambulance service on 01772 903989.
