Retail Sales Manager
Full time including Saturdays. Responsible to the General Manager and MD for managing a team with responsibility for customer service, buying, merchandising and stock control. Must have in depth experience of leading teams in a retail environment with ability to organise and inspire a diverse range of people. Must also be hard working, trustworthy, committed, flexible, motivated, practical and willing to get hands dirty.
Only candidates with garden centre or similar retail experience, or horticultural qualifications and with strong merchandising skills and experience of EPOS will be considered.
Recruiting for this position will continue until the right candidate can be identified and the post may remain open until late 2010.

Plant Advisors
Part time or full time but including a Saturday or Sunday and working between 6 and 8½ hours a day according to preference and business needs. Responsible for giving high quality advice on the care and selection of plants, serving and assisting customers, ordering, receiving and checking, pricing and displaying a wide range of stock including plant care products, tools, seeds, bulbs, garden sundries and wildlife products. Keen interest in gardening and strong plant knowledge (eg demonstrated by award of RHS Certificate or HTA Plant Care Award) essential. Experience in a garden centre or retail nursery desirable. |
Retail Sales Assistant
Dependent on the success of our planning application, in late Summer we may have vacancies for part time and full time Retail Sales Assistant to work both in the new cook shop and the other retail sales areas of the garden centre. Responsible for serving and assisting customers, ordering, receiving and checking, pricing and displaying a wide range of stock including plant care products, tools, seeds, bulbs, garden sundries, wildlife products, giftware, greetings cards, Christmas decorations, living room accessories, furniture, barbeques and country clothing.
Experience in retail sales is not required but potential candidates must be enthusiastic, quick, hard working and committed to excellence in customer service. A keen interest in cooking, gardening, DIY. wildlife or pets would be a definite advantage. Hours have not yet been defined but would include work on a Saturday or Sunday. |
Florist
As we continue our expansion we anticipate expanding our houseplant and silk flower departments to merit employment of at least one part time or full time florist. The successful candidates would be employed as a Retail Sales Assistant with particular responsibility for the care of the houseplants and the appearance of the silk flower and floristry areas. In addition he/she would be preparing silk flower arrangements and part of the site-wide visual merchandising team. In due course responsibilities may be expanded to include fresh cut flowers. |
