The Plantarea and Nursery

 

 

David,  Plantarea Assistant

David left us in late 2010 after 5½ years here to set up his own landscaping business. He has returned to work part time on the plantarea, mainly maintaining the grounds and gardens and helping us with our construction projects.  Customers may also come across him helping with our deliveries.  David lives in Crossens and enjoys coarse fishing.

 

 

 


The Garden Centre Shop

Phil, Assistant Manager

Phil joined us in March 2016 from a DIY chain where he had worked ten years and prior to which, he was a relief manager in the licensed trade.  He lives in Southport and enjoys football and cricket.

 

 

 

 

Chris, Customer Service Team Leader
Chris is Tarleton born and bred and joined us in 2009 after working for several years on the family farm growing vegetables.  Passionate about customer service, she has completed our trade association’s Diploma in Garden Retail is and is usually the one on hand to give customers a cheery welcome at the main tills and reception.  Chris enjoys walking, gardening and cooking in her spare time.

 

 

Allen, Stock Controller and Customer Service Assistant

Allen joined us in March 2015.  He started his career in agriculture, working his way up to the position of Head Stockman for a pig farm in Oxfordshire.  We hope to use this expertise later in the year.  He then took time out to study for a degree in History as a mature student and later worked in the hardware and plants sections of a DIY multiple before working in administration for a financial service company.  Allen lives in Skelmersdale and enjoys gardening and computing.

 

 

Kelly, Weekend Assistant

Kelly lives in Burscough and is an A Level student at a college in Wigan.  Next year she plans to study nursing at university.  Kelly is keen on music and spends some of her free time lending a hand with the care of her grandfather.  She joined us in mid August 2016.

The Garden Café & Restaurant

Jenny,  Catering Supervisor

Before joining us in late April 2016 Jenny had followed a management career in the pub trade.  We have recruited her to help us open our new restaurant and to run the front of house staff.  Jenny lives in Banks and enjoys walking her dogs, reading and handicrafts.

 

 

 

Tracey, Catering Assistant

Tracey has been with us since November 2003 having previously taking time out to have a family and working in the NHS.  She is very active in the Girl Guiding movement and a keen baker and gardener.  Tracey is one of our top barristas so her cappuccinos and lattés are worth trying.

 

 

 

Carol, Catering Assistant

Carol joined us in March 2015 after experience working in a café near her former home. She now lives in Rufford and enjoys riding, dogs and cycling.

 

 

 

Georgina, Catering Assistant

Georgina joined us in mid-August 2016.  She lives locally and is a very keen and talented dancer.  Before joining us she had recently returned from a lengthy tour of China where she danced professionally.

 

 

 

Emily, Weekend Catering Assistant 

Poor Emily is the Cinderella of the catering department.  She started work here in February 2016 and is in charge of the pot wash facility at weekends.  Emily lives in Southport and is studying for a BTEC in Vehicle Maintenance at Southport College.  She enjoys swimming, car maintenance and music.  Let’s hope she doesn’t have any ugly sisters.

 

 

 

Caitlin, Weekend Catering Assistant

Caitlin joined us in July 2016.  She lives in Banks and has just completed her GCSEs at Tarleton Academy.  When not studying or working here, Caitlin enjoys cooking and shopping.

 

 

 

 


Administration

Liz, Administrator

Liz is the only one of our staff to work “behind the scenes”.  She looks after our accounts, personnel administration, payroll and customer data. Before joining us in February 2007 she worked in the Cotswolds as the PA to the Sales Director of a company importing and distributing cars in the UK.  Liz enjoys gardening, walking and travelling.
