Welcome. This cool and unsettled weather is obviously disappointing as I know that our keen gardening customers are impatient to get out into the gardens. However, the mean temperatures are gradually rising so the weather must surely improve soon. Rest assured that we are fully stocked up and ready for a busy season. We have even extended our opening hours to 6pm in the Spring and Summer and on the last Thursday of the month until August we will be open to 8pm.
Recently we opened a new 2,000 square foot extension to the Garden Café. It still needs to be heated, carpeted and decorated but that will have to wait until after our busy season. Likewise the covered walkway linking it to the garden centre shop will not now be completed until the Summer. Temporarily we are using the building to display a wider range of garden furniture. We think we must have one of the biggest collections of garden furniture in the North West and across all price points. Eventually, this extension will house new customer toilets and a new catering facility.
As well as constructing a new building over the past few months, we have been hard at work recruiting new staff and expanding our range of products. Our plantarea staff are extremely excited at the very diverse range of products we now stock. Having visited a few of our larger competitors recently, I know that they cannot beat us for quality, range and price. We now have more staff capable of offering good plant advice and have made the most knowledgeable plant specialists more distinctive to customers by providing them with a green uniform. However, we have not neglected the shop either.
It has never been fuller. In addition to stocking everything to meet a gardener’s needs, we have introduced a wide range of lifestyle products such as Musto casual clothing, artwork and cushions. In the Summer we will bring in a more diverse range of giftware.
Despite the poor Spring weather we still plan on having an exciting as year as we celebrate our 60th anniversary as a family business, and there is still much to do. We are currently forming our next 3 year development plan to take us through to 2012. This will keep us on track to be the number one plant centre in the North West. We are committed to providing not just a wider choice of high quality plants but a huge range of products associated with gardening. I am fortunate to have a committed, friendly and knowledgeable staff who share my passion for gardening and they should be able to provide lots of advice to the novice gardener on what to plant where in your garden.
I do hope you will enjoy visiting this website and that you will take the time to pay us a visit in person before long. I look forward to welcoming you.
