WWelcome to Dunscar and Happy New Year. After an extremely busy and record Christmas sales period we are now busy preparing for our peak Spring season. Notwithstanding the recent very cold spell, I have a feeling that Spring could be here before we know it and thus we feel a sense of urgency.

Whilst I love the variety of the four seasons, Spring is my favourite. There is always a sense of freshness and optimism about the season and of course, as a passionate gardener, I love to see the new growth in the garden and the birds and other wildlife preparing for the arrival of their young.

I am hopeful too that the new season will bring about a new sense of optimism in the country and we can put the recession behind us. There has been too much talk in the press about doom and gloom. On our part we are pleased to report record turnover for each of the months of September to December 2009 so this is hard evidence of economic recovery and returning confidence. Our aim this Spring is not only to introduce several exciting new products but also to expand the business and provide more reasons for customers to pay a return visit. Our new cook shop has been a tremendous success and a good example of what we aim to achieve over the next year.
However, the opening of the cook shop is not the only change we have made in the past few months. The new coffee shop is proving popular and regular customers will have noted that we have introduced a fantastic range of high quality but extremely low priced solid North American oak furniture. We import this furniture by the container but even so struggle to get enough of it. To complement our furniture range we have also expanded our interior lifestyle and soft furnishings department and also given over more space to giftware.
